Shiv Parvati Vivah 2027 is a four-day devotional celebration planned on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh, bringing the Shiv Purana's telling of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati's wedding to life through genuine Hindu wedding ritual — Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet, a Shiv Baraat and a Vedic Vivah — rather than a staged performance. Here's exactly what the four days involve.
- Dates: Friday 12 March to Monday 15 March 2027 (3 nights, 4 days) - Location: Rishikesh, Uttarakhand — a riverside property, to be announced - Group size: Planned for 150-200 guests - Food: Pure satvik throughout — no onion, no garlic - Travel: Delhi to Delhi by Maharaja Traveller included
The celebration opens with a traditional Pahadi welcome — chandan tilak, moli (sacred thread) and flowers, with dhol-damau music. After check-in and a welcome hamper of local Uttarakhand products, the day moves through Ganesh Vandana & Aarti (seeking Lord Ganesha's blessings, as every Indian wedding traditionally begins), the Haridra Sanskar (Haldi ceremony) on a lawn facing the hills, and closes with Ganga Sandhya — an evening Ganga Aarti and Deep Daan (floating lamp offerings) by the river. Suggested dress: shades of yellow for Haldi, white or pastels for the Ganga Sandhya.
The day begins gently with sunrise yoga and Om chanting by the Ganga, open to all levels. Mid-morning brings the Mehendi Utsav, with henna designs inspired by the adornment of Maa Parvati herself. The afternoon has leisure time, with optional sessions with astrologers, tarot readers and numerologists for guests who want them, followed by high tea. The evening is the Shiv Parvati Sangeet Sandhya — dhol, Pahadi folk and classical dance, devotional fusion performances, and a Shiv Tandav performance, closing with a Himalayan satvik dinner featuring live chaat counters. Suggested dress: greens and bright colours for Mehendi, festive Indian wear for the Sangeet.
The main event. After morning yoga, the Shiv Baraat departs at 11:00 AM — a joyous procession with dhol, nagada, damroo, trishul standards and Nandi imagery, led by folk musicians. The Baraat is welcomed with flowers for Shiv-Parvati Milan and Varmala, followed by the Divine Vivah itself — a Vedic wedding inspired by the Shiv Purana, with pheras around the sacred fire, led by qualified priests. The evening closes with a grand reception, featuring Kailash-themed décor and cultural performances. Suggested dress: reds, maroons, gold and ivory for the Baraat and Vivah; royal Indian wear for the reception. Guests are welcome to join the Baraat's dancing — just follow the priests' guidance around photography during the Vivah ceremony itself.
A gentle close — one last satvik bhojan together by the river, farewell gifts and prasad, and departure by 10:30 AM, with travel home included.
Delhi-Delhi travel by Maharaja Traveller, Dehradun airport transfers, 3 nights' riverside accommodation, all satvik meals and prasad from Day 1 afternoon through Day 4 morning, every ceremony listed above, sunrise yoga sessions, live folk and devotional performances, a welcome hamper and farewell gift, high tea, and on-ground support throughout.
Not included: flights or trains to Delhi/Dehradun, optional activities (river rafting, extra sightseeing), personal expenses, and anything not explicitly listed as included.
