One of the most common questions we get about the Kedarnath–Badrinath Yatra is whether to trek or fly. Both are valid choices, and the right one depends on your fitness, budget and time.
The trek route The trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is around 16–18 km one way, gaining significant altitude along a paved but steep path. Pony, palki (palanquin) and porter services are available locally for those who want assistance for part of the route. Plan for a full day each way, and be prepared for changeable weather even in peak season.
The helicopter option Helicopter services operate from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi (depending on the season's operator allocations) and cut the journey to a matter of minutes each way. However, seats are limited, fares are set independently of our package cost, and services are frequently affected by weather holds — so treat any helicopter booking as subject to last-minute change.
What our package includes Our Kedarnath–Badrinath Yatra package is built around the trek route by default, with Innova transport, accommodation, and daily breakfast and dinner included. Helicopter tickets are explicitly excluded from the package price (see our exclusions) since availability and fares are outside our control — we're glad to help you understand current booking windows when you enquire.
Our honest recommendation If you're reasonably fit and want the full pilgrimage experience, the trek is deeply rewarding. If you have mobility concerns, limited time, or are travelling with elderly family members, budget separately for helicopter tickets and book that leg as early as possible once seat sales open for the season.
